This week our blog post task is to answer the following
question:
Which industries and job categories are forecast to experience the greatest growth—and therefore the greatest demand for workers—in the next 10 years?
It is not at all surprising that according to the Bureau of
Labor Statistics that the most expected growth will occur within the health
care field. Various health related
occupations including personal care aids, RNs, home health aids are expected to
increase in need by 6-38% respectively by the year 2024 (Employment
Projections). Additional employees will
also be needed in labor type jobs including construction, cleaners, and for
movement of various types of goods by 6-13% (Employment Projections). Finally the need for customer service skills
will not decrease within the next ten years.
The need for various service related positions including those in
retail, clerks, and sales will increase 6-8% (Employment Projections). While this information may not be
surprising, it is worthy of being notable.
Through paying attention to the job market it allows those who are new
to the job market or looking to make a change make an informed choice for the
long term needs of employers. With the
proper planning and skills anyone can prepare themselves to be in a position to
be employable long term regardless of the bumps within the economy.
